Your recordings
Microphone access is used when you record a practice take. Audio is held temporarily in memory for on-device analysis. The app does not save microphone recordings as audio files or upload them to Marbatis or a third-party inference service. Cancellation and interruptions discard the current take.
Practice information on your iPhone
The app keeps up to 100 recent practice records and up to 200 recent sentence keys, along with topic, difficulty, first-language, and sound preferences, in local app storage. Practice records can include sentence text and practice outcomes. Detected IPA and full comparison data are not stored in practice history. This local history and settings storage is excluded from iCloud Backup.
Your controls
Settings → Delete practice history removes saved practice history, topic and sound preferences, and recent sentence keys. You can revoke microphone permission in iPhone Settings. Listening and reading do not require microphone permission.
AI sentences and voices
Sentence generation uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework on supported devices. Speech playback uses an installed Apple voice. Initial Apple-managed model or voice downloads may require internet access and are governed by Apple’s services and privacy practices. SpeakSignal does not integrate a cloud language-model API.
Accounts, advertising, and analytics
The iPhone app has no user account, advertising SDK, tracking, or third-party analytics integration. It does not transmit practice information to a developer server. Apple handles App Store purchases and any diagnostics or store analytics provided under Apple’s own settings and policies.

Policy changes
We will update this page if the app’s data practices change. The updated date appears at the top of the policy.
